Job summary

Curran Recruiting is seeking an experienced Transportation Manager to lead domestic and international transportation operations within a growing manufacturing and distribution organization in Phoenix, AZ. You will oversee planning, carrier management, private fleet operations, freight costs, and compliance.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of transportation leadership, hands-on experience with multiple shipping modes, and proficiency with a Transportation Management System (TMS).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
• 5+ years of transportation leadership experience with direct reports.
• Experience managing carrier relationships across multiple modes (Truckload, LTL, Parcel, Air, Ocean).
• Experience conducting RFP/RFQ processes and negotiating carrier agreements.
• Experience implementing or managing a Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Experience overseeing freight payment, auditing, and reconciliation.
• Knowledge of DOT and HAZMAT requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a transportation team responsible for planning, carrier management, and freight payables.
• Manage domestic and international transportation across multiple modes.
• Optimize routing, shipment planning, carrier capacity, and costs while maintaining service levels.
• Negotiate rates and support RFP/RFQ and contracts.
• Oversee private fleet operations, drivers, maintenance, and load planning.
• Ensure DOT, HAZMAT, customs, and international requirements are met.
• Manage TMS and related logistics processes.
• Oversee freight auditing, payment, reconciliation, and accruals.
• Analyze transportation data and freight spend for cost-saving opportunities.

This position will oversee transportation planning, carrier management, private fleet operations, freight cost management, compliance, and freight payment processes.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing transportation teams and carrier relationships across multiple modes, including Truckload, LTL, Parcel, Air, and Ocean freight.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a transportation team responsible for transportation planning, carrier management, and freight payables.
• Manage domestic and international transportation activities across truckload, LTL, parcel, air, and ocean.
• Optimize routing, shipment planning, carrier capacity, and transportation costs while maintaining customer service levels.
• Manage carrier relationships, performance metrics, and ongoing service expectations.
• Negotiate spot rates and support carrier RFP/RFQ and contract negotiations.
• Oversee private fleet operations, including drivers, maintenance, load planning, and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure compliance with applicable DOT, HAZMAT, customs, and international transportation requirements.
• Manage transportation management systems and related logistics processes.
• Oversee freight auditing, payment, reconciliation, and accrual processes.
• Analyze transportation data and freight spend to identify cost-saving and process-improvement opportunities.
