Logistics Management is responsible for ensuring that all equipment and drivers are needed to cover all the Routes and Transfers. Conducting regular meetings with drivers to go over safety, job duties and performance. Ensuring all the equipment is safe and properly maintained. Reporting to the National Fleet Director in overall management. Along with working closely with many internal departments to ensure drivers are following Meyer policies & procedures.

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday
  • 7:00 am - 5:00 pm (start/end time varies based on workload, coverage)
  • Occasional weekends, On call

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Planning and supervising shipments, including tracking orders.
  • Assist with scheduling backhauls and find the best rates.
  • Coordinating with warehouse workers.
  • Ensuring compliance with shipping regulations.
  • Report on maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment.
  • Manage the yard including checking/inspecting equipment and coordinating with maintenance to ensure all regular preventative maintenance services are scheduled on time and all safety related mechanical issues are fixed for account equipment (as required).
  • Keep organized records of vehicles, schedules and complete orders.
  • Assist in the overall management of our network of all drives (CDL/Non-CDL).
  • Scheduling routes to ensure all routes/transfers are covered including managing freight exceptions and driver ETA adjustments based on pick-up and delivery schedules, and other environmental factors on the road.
  • Assist in resolving any issues that may arise with all drivers, customers company personnel, routing and/or planning, mechanical issues, accessorial pay related issues, etc., as they occur throughout the day and, where necessary.
  • On call and serve as a backup to the National Fleet Director.
  • Assist in recruiting, the development of personnel, coaching, mentoring, training & onboarding of new employees with internal and third party (customer) systems.
  • Travel to other Meyer locations.
  • Assist in completing onsite operational audits.
  • Operate/drive a forklift/manlift.
  • Help solve problems and make informed decisions that affect the service and profitability of the company.
  • Communicate with the National Fleet Director and Director of Cross dock Operations on issues.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • One year of commercial driving experience is preferred.
  • Three years of logistics supervisory experience required.
  • Experience with routing routes / transfers.
  • Solid knowledge of supply chain management.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid License and relative endorsement for the specific state.
  • Willing to submit to drug screen, background checks and maintain a valid DOT medical examiners card.
  • No recent moving or driving violations.
  • Knowledge in business practices, analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of the Department of Transportation, Hours of Service under FMCSA rules and regulations including State and Federal Safety.
  • Proficient in working with computers, learning new applications, and data entry.
  • Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
