Job summary

Ferraro Foods is seeking a hands-on Transportation Manager to lead daily foodservice delivery operations. You will oversee routing, dispatch, and driver performance while developing new drivers and ensuring safety and compliance.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities to keep deliveries on time. The position offers leadership opportunities within an established foodservice organization and a schedule that supports early start times with weekday work.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active Class A or Class B CDL.
• Minimum 5+ years of foodservice delivery experience.
• Experience supervising or managing transportation teams preferred.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational abilities.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily transportation operations including routing, dispatch and driver coordination.
• Manage morning dispatch process for Class A and B drivers.
• Troubleshoot routing, delivery, and staffing issues and follow up with drivers.
• Coordinate callouts and alternate solutions to keep deliveries moving.
• Communicate with customers, service, and internal teams regarding delivery times.
• Act as a key liaison between Transportation and Sales.
• Analyze routes to identify efficiency improvements.
• Review driver feedback and adjust routes as needed.
• Supervise RoadNet maintenance and routing activity.
• Monitor truck utilization, weight and cube during routing.
• Coach and counsel drivers to improve performance and ensure policy compliance.
• Address attendance and conduct concerns with corrective action.
• Support training of newly hired drivers and ensure DOT compliance.

Job description

At Ferraro Foods, our Transportation team keeps our operations moving and ensures customers receive their deliveries safely and on time. The Transportation Manager plays a key role in overseeing daily transportation operations, including dispatch, routing, driver performance, and the training and development of new driver hires.

We’re looking for a hands‑on Transportation Manager with strong foodservice delivery experience who can lead drivers, solve problems quickly, and keep daily operations running safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Be Working On

• Oversee daily transportation operations, including routing, dispatching, and driver coordination
• Manage the morning dispatch process for Class A and Class B Drivers
• Troubleshoot routing, delivery, and staffing issues and follow up with drivers throughout the day
• Handle driver and Driver Helper callouts and coordinate alternate solutions to keep deliveries moving
• Communicate with customers, Customer Service, Sales, drivers, and other internal teams regarding delivery times and service issues
• Serve as a key point of communication between Transportation and Sales
• Analyze routes on an ongoing basis and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
• Review driver feedback and make appropriate adjustments to route order and sequencing
• Supervise and audit RoadNet maintenance and routing activity
• Monitor truck utilization during the routing process, including weight and cube
• Coach and counsel drivers and helpers to improve performance and ensure adherence to company policies
• Address attendance, performance, conduct, and other policy concerns through appropriate corrective action
• Support the training and development of newly hired drivers
• Ensure drivers comply with DOT regulations, state and federal laws, OSHA requirements, and company policies
• Report driver accidents, incidents, and injuries to Safety and Human Resources
• Identify and recommend improvements to departmental policies and practices

The Ingredients for Success

• Active Class A or Class B CDL required
• 5+ years of foodservice delivery experience
• Transportation supervisory or management experience preferred
• Working knowledge of RoadNet preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and follow-up skillsStrong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage a busy workload
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
• High school diploma or equivalent work‑related experience preferred

The Details

• Schedule: Monday – Friday | 4:00 AM start, with flexibility for afternoons and weekends based on operational needs.
• Compensation: $80,000 – $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience
