State of Michigan, through MDOT, seeks a Transportation Maintenance Worker for a limited-term winter assignment (Oct–Apr). The role performs winter maintenance on Blue Water Bridge and facilities, operates heavy vehicles, and travels to assigned work areas as part of the TMW program.
Applicants must hold a CDL, be able to meet US-Canada border crossing requirements, and obtain a valid WHTI within 60 days. Education typically requires a high school diploma.
THIS IS A LIMITED-TERM WINTER MAINTENANCE POSITION THAT MAY LAST FROM OCTOBER TO APRIL, BUT WITH NO GUARANTEE.
Position will work full-time hours during the limited-term assignment.
This position performs winter maintenance activities on Blue Water Bridge and its facilities. This position is required to participate in the Transportation Maintenance Worker (TMW) work element program and travel to assigned work areas.
This position is required to operate a vehicle or vehicle/trailer combination with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more when performing winter maintenance including, but not limited to, front end loaders, large maintenance trucks with underbody blade, etc.
The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (6) level through the maximum rate at the experienced (e8) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.

One year of experience equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker 6 or Laborer E6 with experience in roadway, roadside, bridge, or sign maintenance, or pavement marking.
Two years of experience equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker 7; or, one year of skilled trades experience at the E9 level.
