Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a qualified professional to support field inspections of highway construction projects, ensuring compliance with SCDOT Standards and project plans.

The role involves documenting daily field notes, overseeing QA/QC, erosion and traffic control, coordinating with contractors and project engineers, and assisting with contract maintenance projects. Travel may be required and a valid driver's license is typically expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor7s degree required in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management or an approved acceptable equivalence.

Responsibilities

• Monitor construction projects for compliance with project plans, SCDOT Standards, and Standard Drawings.
• Maintain daily field notes and verify contractor compliance with SCDOT specifications and standards.
• Monitor QA/QC, erosion control, and traffic control activities for applicable certifications and plans.
• Assist with managing contract maintenance projects in accordance with standards and specifications.
• Coordinate with project engineers and inspectors to ensure appropriate inspection coverage on projects.
• Support project management activities, including liaising with utilities and contractors and conducting initial site inspections.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
