HDR seeks a Transportation Hydraulics Engineer to lead drainage design and water resources projects for transportation clients in the Midwest. The role includes hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, producing design calculations, and coordinating plans for detention facilities, stormwater systems, and drainage improvements.
Requirements include a Bachelor's in Engineering, a PE license, 3+ years in drainage projects, strong communication, and alignment with HDR's employee‑owned culture.
Primary duties are to provide project engineering, task management, and project management with a focus on transportation projects and public transportation clients throughout the Midwest Region. Anticipated work tasks may include conducting hydrologic and hydraulic modeling; stormwater collection systems modeling and design; stormwater management modeling and design; collecting, assimilating, and presenting data in reports, memos, and public forums; leading production of design calculations and technical reports; and preparing engineering plans and specifications for detention facilities, storm drains, flood control facilities, and other hydraulic structures. The role requires working independently as well as planning, organizing, and leading small to medium groups of professionals and technicians depending on the project/task. Tasks also involve water resources planning, formulation of concepts, developing planning documentation, assisting in stormwater permitting efforts, and leading teams in highway drainage design and plan production for ODOT and municipal clients, drainage analysis and documentation, and stormwater management design and permitting and project management.
The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full‑time regular positions. Temporary and part‑time roles eligible for limited benefits.) Pay range: $76,790–$126,155.
