Job summary

Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, DPC in East Brunswick, NJ is seeking a full-time Transportation Engineering Project Manager to lead diverse public sector transportation projects.

The role requires 8+ years of experience, a Civil Engineering degree and a NJ PE license (or ability to obtain). You will manage schedules, budgets, and client contracts while mentoring field staff and supporting business development.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering; ability to obtain NJ PE license.
  • Minimum 8 years of civil/transportation project experience; NJDOT/NJTA preferred.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to meetings/sites.
  • TCC Traffic Control Coordinator Certification preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office and PDF tools.

Overview

We are seeking a full‑time Project Manager to support our East Brunswick, NJ Engineering and Construction Management team. This is an exciting opportunity for professional growth and advancement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist with the management of various public sector engineering and transportation projects, including oversight and review, visiting field offices, and filling in for project staff as needed.
  • Provide leadership to field staff and engineering teams.
  • Perform contract negotiations with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to obtain rates and contract amendments for the benefit of the Company.
  • Establish and monitor schedules and budgets related to assigned projects, and assist with billing reviews and invoicing as needed.
  • Assist with business development efforts, including proposal development, marketing activities, and travel to trade shows and industry events as appropriate.
  • Conduct project site visits as required.
  • Complete all related duties necessary to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering, with a valid Professional Engineering license and ability to obtain an NJ PE license within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering, construction management, and transportation experience; NJDOT and/or NJTA experience highly preferred.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • TCC Traffic Control Coordinator Certification preferred.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong oral and written communication abilities to coordinate with clients, supervisors, and managers.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, PDF software, and the ability to learn applicable time reporting and budgeting programs.
  • Valid, acceptable driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to meetings and sites as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Assume a stationary position.
  • Handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials and/or equipment relevant to the job.
  • Communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and clients using Company email and telephone systems.
  • Move around on the job site, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder and positioning oneself appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment, often for prolonged periods of time.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Possess good visual skills, including focused depth perception.
  • Regular daily operations of a motor‑vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods.

PAY RANGE

Pay Range: $130,000 - $180,000 per year.
