Job summary

DRMP in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience while pursuing a degree in civil or environmental engineering. You will work with our transportation team on real projects, applying data analyses and planning tasks under supervision.

This internship lasts 3 to 24 months and offers mentorship, exposure to GIS and project documentation, and potential for full-time employment after graduation.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software.

Responsibilities

  • Performs engineering/planning/administrative calculations and analyses of information to complete assigned projects.
  • Performs engineering/planning/administrative project tasks.
  • Provides technical support for engineering, planning and administrative projects.
  • Supports evaluations using various software programs.
  • Assists with the development and production of project deliverables, including written documentation and graphics.

Description

If you're a student looking to gain experience in Civil/Environmental Engineering, consider DRMP. Your Primary Responsibilities will include

What you'll need

Education:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, Administrative discipline, or closely related field.

Skills:

  • Able to analyze and interpret data.
  • Able to meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Able to carry out multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to learn and use relevant software programs including but not limited to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Effective organizational skills to maintain deliverables, analytical results, and field notes in project files.
  • Effective writing skills to assist with report writing, proposal preparation, and engineering/construction cost estimates.
  • Able to work effectively in group settings or as an individual.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion.
