Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. in Atlanta, GA, invites you to join our Transportation team as a Civil Engineering Intern (Highway/Roadways) for Summer 2027.

You will participate in planning, design and maintenance of large-scale infrastructure projects, working closely with professional engineers and other specialists to deliver meaningful client solutions. Under mentorship, you’ll assist with highway design, right‑of‑way plans, drainage and intersection improvements, and you’ll use CADD tools

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Course work related to transportation.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Knowledge of and experience using CADD/Design software (Microstation/Inroads or AutoCAD/Civil 3D).
• Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineering services for highways, expressways, and major road networks.
• Preparation of right-of-way plans, detailed roadway designs, drainage, floodplain management, and intersection improvements
• Utilizing CADD to prepare various engineering drawings, layouts, and/or models to communicate project details in accordance with established standards and procedure
• Collaboration with environmental scientists, utility locates, and surveyors to meet stringent requirements and address maintenance and improvement needs
• Assist in providing technical and operational support for exposure to: Highway engineering principles, standards, and practices; Project Delivery for key clients (including the design, environmental, and procurement processes); Various Related Highway Disciplines (Stormwater management, green infrastructure, utilities, structures, etc).

Jacobs is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Highway/ Roadways) to join our Transportation team in Atlanta, GA, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients’ challenges locally and worldwide.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team and be involved in a variety of engineering tasks for our clients; including planning, design, and maintenance of large-scale infrastructure projects.

In this position you will work with a multidisciplinary team taking on a variety of tasks that blend your theoretical knowledge with practical application. Under the guidance of professional engineers, architects and other senior technical staff you will provide design and engineering services for highways, expressways, and major road networks.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Design and engineering services for highways, expressways, and major road networks.

The base salary range for this position is $45,000.00 to $65,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
