Job summary

Stantec seeks a roadway design engineer to lead city, county and DOT projects in a collaborative team. You’ll develop concepts, layouts, and final plans, perform CADD work in MicroStation/OpenRoads or Civil 3D, and prepare reports and estimates. You will supervise technicians, mentor staff, and contribute to client service and growth.

The role requires a BSCE, 5+ years of roadway design experience, and Minnesota PE registration. Travel and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • BSCE required with minimum 5 years’ roadway design experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Minnesota is required.
  • Must have experience leading roadway design projects and coordinating with agencies.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation of roadway design projects for cities, counties, and state DOT’s.

  • Collaborate with staff from local offices and greater Stantec to provide support, access expertise, and secure assistance on projects as needed.

  • Stay abreast of market trends and client concerns and develop responsive solutions.

  • Support an energetic and collaborative team culture that drives great results.

  • Prepare design concepts, Preliminary Geometric Layouts and Final Design construction plan sets.

  • Perform CADD design of roadways incorporating State DOT, County, and local practices and procedures.

  • Perform CADD design in MicroStation/ OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D as it relates to roadway design, including 3D corridor models.

  • Prepare transportation related reports including design memos and feasibility reports.

  • Prepare project cost estimates and specifications.

  • Assists in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to requests for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks.

  • Supervise and manage design technicians and EIT’s performing roadway CADD design.

  • Mentor staff to develop each to their full potential.

  • Client service, development, management, and growth.

  • Review work for accuracy and coordinates with others to ensure quality assurance and quality control for all final products

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, OneNote, and OneDrive.

  • Proven expertise in roadway and utility design in an urban setting including but not limited to roundabouts, signal systems, ADA, bikeways, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, watermain and private utility coordination.

  • Efficient project design expertise of multiple concurrent projects.

  • Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team.

  • Developing ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.

  • Has the skill and knowledge to create, suggest, and introduce innovative and effective client solutions and integrated deliverables that are aligned with the Sector business objectives

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal abilities and willingness to work in a team atmosphere and assist with M&BD activities for positioning and pursuits of new opportunities

  • Detail oriented and Self-motivated.

  • Ability to lead a design team through all phases of project production.

  • Ability to travel as required

  • Valid Driver's License and good driving record required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in roadway design.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Minnesota.

Pay Range:

Locations in MN, OH, VT, & Various CA, ME, NY, VA Areas-$90,900.00 - $131,800.00 Annually

Pay Transparency:

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary:
