Transportation Engineer Trainee (40 Hour) Land Surveyor

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Full Time, 40 hours per week.
  • Monday through Friday.
  • First Shift, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required and must be maintained.

The District 1 Surveys section performs various types of land surveying, including topographic mapping, boundary and construction surveys. The Transportation Engineer Trainee (Land Surveyor) will learn to:

  • Operate survey field instruments, such as conventional and robotic Total Stations, Auto and Digital Levels, GPS receivers.
  • Use surveying software to perform complex computations.
  • UseMicrostation/Bentley OpenRoads CADD (computer aided design and drafting) to prepare, revise and edit land surveys for mapping.
  • Develop topographic mapping and DTM’s (Digital Terrain Models) for future Highway and Railroad construction projects and support ongoing construction projects.
  • Perform related duties as required.

The ideal Transportation Engineer Trainee (Land Surveyor) will:

  • Possess general knowledge of land surveying and transportation.
  • Have experience with construction engineering theories, principles, and methods.
  • Be skilled in computer aided design software (MicroStation· preferred) and other computer. applications including Word and Excel.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess the ability to read and analyze construction plans and estimates.
