By joining our Engineering Section, as a Transportation Engineer Supervisor in Jefferson County, you will have the opportunity to oversee the activities of professional and technical personnel in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of highways, structures, or facilities.
Summary Of Responsibilities
- Plans, assigns, and supervises work on the structures bridge crew
- Analyzes data to plan, design and coordinate projects
- Reviews requests for major repairs or new projects and makes recommendations and estimates.
- Confers with various contractors and project vendors on technical and operational issues or problems
- Interprets project plans and contract documents for property owners, local officials, contractors, consultants and material suppliers

Work is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites which require the following of safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: See Special Requirements.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of engineering experience in addition to that required for licensure as a professional engineer.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience. Graduate work in engineering beyond a master's degree will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six month probationary period. Engineering decisions recommended by individuals without a Kentucky Professional Engineering License must be approved by a KRS Chapter 322 Licensed Professional Engineer until licensure is obtained.
