Job summary

GRAEF in Chicago is seeking a Transportation Engineer to contribute to the design of transportation and site engineering projects at the O'Hare office.

You will actively participate in the design process, lead aspects of project advancement, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team on highway, roadway, and sewer plans, reports, and permitting.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of practical design experience in transportation/highway design.
  • Knowledge of IDOT, CDOT, municipal and IL Tollway standards.
  • IL PE license is required.
  • Good communication skills with clients and internal team members.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on involvement in the design process and project advancement, setting priorities and objectives.
  • Serve as a technical resource for a multi-disciplined team.
  • Design opportunities include Highway and Roadway Plans, Specifications and Estimates; Sewer Plans, Specifications and Estimates; Project Permitting; Project Reports; Mentor Junior Engineers.
  • Engage in professional society involvement.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Transportation Engineer in our Chicago O'Hare office. This position offers the opportunity to work on the design of a variety of transportation and site engineering projects. Transportation Engineer responsibilities include:
  • Hands-on involvement in the design process and project advancement including setting priorities and developing objectives.
  • The ability to serve as a technical resource for a multi-disciplined team.
  • Design opportunities will generally include:
    • Highway and Roadway Plans, Specifications and Estimates
    • Sewer Plans, Specifications and Estimates
    • Project Permitting
    • Project Reports
    • Mentor Junior Engineers
  • Professional society involvement.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of practical design experience in transportation engineering, highway design, and local street design.
  • Knowledge of IDOT, CDOT, municipal and IL Tollway design and standards.
  • PE license in IL.
  • Good communication skills and interaction with clients and internal team members is necessary.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads required. Modeling with OpenRoads is desired. Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D software is a plus.
Benefits:
  • The salary range for this position is $90,000-$120,000. (Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience and skill set, as well as internal and external equity.)
