The Maryland Port Administration is seeking a motivated transportation engineering professional to manage and inspect construction projects. This role involves frequent site visits and requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering and four years of experience. The Maryland Port Administration (MPA) is a 204-employee transportation business unit within the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and is the public face of the Port of Baltimore. MPA was created by the Maryland General Assembly to increase waterborne commerce through the ports in the state. The Port of Baltimore plays an integral role as an economic generator and job creator, in addition to maintaining our nation's supply chain and moving vital goods to industries and consumers. As one of the nation's top ports for total cargo tonnage and overall dollar value of cargo, the Port of Baltimore is also one of the most diverse ports in the United States with over 140,000 jobs in Maryland linked to port activity.

MPA is seeking a motivated, positive, and driven transportation engineering professional to join the Field Engineering Department of MPA's Division of Engineering. The primary responsibility of this position is to engage in construction management and inspection of capital projects including Capital Program Management (CPM) schedule analysis and resolution of construction issues and claims. The candidate also participates in the design process including the review of plans, specifications, and estimates, and engages in construction management and inspection of capital projects including CPM schedule analysis and resolution of construction issues and claims.
This position requires frequent visits to construction sites and damaged facilities to inspect and approve the workmanship and performance of contractors. It involves climbing, squatting, bending, and crawling to access worksites as necessary. The role may expose the employee to extreme weather conditions, high noise levels, vibrations, fumes, hazardous materials, chemical spills, and operation of terminal and construction equipment.
This position reports directly to the Deputy Director of Construction, Division of Engineering.

Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four (4) years of professional engineering experience.
The ideal candidate will possess a civil/structural engineering degree from an accredited college or university.
