Job summary

Baxter & Woodman, Inc. in Peoria, IL seeks a Transportation Engineer III to design transportation projects and perform field presence for state, county, and local agencies. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across transportation and construction disciplines.

The role requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering and IL P.E. eligibility or licensure within 6 months, 5+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency in OpenRoads Designer / AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant municipal or highway transportation experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering; IL-PE preferred or able to acquire within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Design engineering efforts on transportation projects following IDOT standards.
• Lead projects and studies including roadway, drainage, traffic, and infrastructure improvements.
• Assist with business development and client management opportunities.
• Coordinate construction activities with clients, inspectors, contractors and public agencies.
• Conduct on-site observation of work, repairs, and tests as needed.

About the role, Your Impact

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a Transportation Engineer III in our Peoria, IL office. This position will primarily consist of design engineering efforts on a variety of transportation projects and field presence for State, County, and Local Agencies. This team-orientated position will include working with Baxter & Woodman’s diverse disciplines and offices within the transportation and construction fields.

What your day-to-day will look like

• Manage/Complete engineering plans and specifications production using IDOT Standards.
• Complete Federal Aid projects for a variety of clients.
• Lead a variety of projects and study types including roadway, underground utility, drainage, traffic, and infrastructure improvements.
• Complete general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
• Assist with business development and client management opportunities for transportation and infrastructure projects is preferred but not required.
• Coordinate construction activities with clients, inspectors, contractors and public agencies.
• Conduct on-site observation of work, repairs, and tests as needed.

Education/Certification Requirements

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois (or ability to acquire within 6 mos.)

• 5+ years of relevant experience with municipal or highway agency transportation projects.
• Knowledge of OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D, Civil 3D.
• Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own transportation).
• Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities.
• Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.

Compensation The pay range for this role is $90,000 to $120,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
