Baxter & Woodman Inc. invites applications for an entry-level Transportation Engineer position in our Orlando, Jacksonville, or Fernandina Beach, FL offices.

You will contribute to design engineering on municipal, county, and state transportation projects while collaborating with diverse disciplines across offices. Ideal candidates have an internship/co‑op in transportation, strong communication, and the ability to travel within our service area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level civil engineering degree required or pursuing licensure.
• Relevant internship/co-op with municipal or highway projects.
• Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area.
• Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design roadway, underground utility, and infrastructure improvements using OpenRoads/OpenRoads Designer.
• Conduct drainage, traffic, and various engineering studies.
• Prepare engineering plans and specifications following FDOT standards.
• Assist project engineers and managers with diverse tasks for project delivery.

About the role, Your Impact

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for an entry-level Transportation Engineer in our Orlando, Jacksonville or Fernandina Beach, FL offices. This position will primarily consist of design engineering efforts on a variety of transportation projects for State, County, and Local Agencies. This team-orientated position will include working with Baxter & Woodman’s diverse disciplines and offices.

What your day-to-day will look like, what you will learn on the job

• Design Roadway, Underground Utility, and Infrastructure improvements using Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
• Conduct drainage, traffic, and various engineering studies.
• Complete general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
• Complete engineering plans and specifications using FDOT Standards.
• Assist project engineers and managers with a wide variety of tasks required for project delivery.

Education Requirement

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering

• Relevant internship/co-op experience with municipal or highway agency transportation projects.
• Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own transportation).
• Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities.
• Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
• Work within a team-first culture that encourages individual development and accomplishment of goals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Anticipated F.E. (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification.
• Knowledge of designing roadway and underground improvements with Civil3D or Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
• Experience with Geopak.

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $74,000 to $77,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
