An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Transportation Engineer to provide essential quality assurance support for trunkline bridge construction projects. This role involves reviewing plans, specifications, and estimates to ensure accuracy and clarity at various project milestones. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, with a preference for civil engineering, and will be responsible for maintaining thorough documentation and assisting with updates to reference materials. This position offers the potential for remote work based on operational needs, making it a flexible opportunity for engineering professionals looking to make a significant impact in the field.
This position is responsible for providing quality assurance support to the statewide specialists responsible for reviewing trunkline bridge construction plans, verifying that the plans, specifications, special provisions, and estimates are complete, clear, and accurate. Quality Assurance reviews are conducted at key milestone review stages: Base Plan, Plan Review, and Final Project Coordination (FPC). This position maintains plan review records and assists in updates to reference documents.
The salary listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (9) level through the maximum rate at the experienced (P11) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine their qualified level.

Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering is required. A bachelor of science degree in civil engineering is preferred. We may consider applicants who will obtain a bachelor’s degree by May 31, 2025.
Transportation Engineer 9: No specific experience required.
Transportation Engineer 10: One year of professional engineering experience involving transportation systems and programs, equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 9.
Transportation Engineer P11: Two years of professional engineering experience involving transportation systems and programs, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 10.
Possession of a registered professional engineer license as required by the State of Michigan may substitute for 6 months of experience at the Transportation Engineer 9-12 levels. This substitution can only be used once for qualification or reclassification.
