Southern Arkansas University is seeking a Transportation Engineer 9-12 (Ancillary Structures Engineer) in Michigan. This position involves managing and repairing ancillary structures like retaining walls and drainage culverts, assisting TSC Construction Engineers with drainage concerns, and providing engineering support for paving operations.
A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required, and civil engineering is preferred. Candidates should possess a valid driver’s license for site visits. Remote work may be considered based on operational needs.
This position assists with the management and repair of ancillary structures (e.g., earth retaining walls, sound walls, sign structures, drainage culverts, etc.) within the Metro Region of the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). This position also assists in providing assistance to Transportation Service Center (TSC) Construction Engineers, coordinating drainage and hydrology concerns within the Metro Region, and providing engineering assistance related to Metro Region paving operations.
This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license to perform site visits.
The “Salary” listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (9) level through the maximum rate at the advanced (12) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.
Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate work schedule requests for this position may be considered.
Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering.
Possession of a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering is preferred.
Possession of a registered professional engineer license as required by the State of Michigan may substitute for 6 months of experience at the Transportation Engineer 9-12 levels. This substitution may only be used once for any employee for qualification of appointment or early reclassification.
