Job description

This position serves as the recognized resource for preparing and evaluating agreements and licenses related to Macro Cell Tower and Communications installations in the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Right-of-Way. This position reviews contract language and resolves issues related to project-specific cost sharing agreement agenda descriptions for the State Administrative Board, State Transportation Commission, and the MDOT Director's agendas. It tracks licenses for permitted activities in the highway right of way by mapping locations, notifying licensees and MDOT permit staff of upcoming license expirations, and updating records with renewals. The role involves preparing draft agreements for Permit Operation & Maintenance between MDOT, federal, state, local agencies, and private entities to ensure compliance with MDOT guidelines, federal, and state laws for both Trunkline and Governmental Local agreements.

The salary listed reflects the range from the minimum to the maximum rate of the Transportation Engineer 12 position.

Qualifications

Education: Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering.

Experience: Three years of professional engineering experience in transportation systems and programs, equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including one year at the Transportation Engineer P11 level.

Possession of a registered professional engineer license as required by the State of Michigan may substitute for 6 months of experience at the Transportation Engineer 9-12 levels. This substitution can only be used once per employee for qualification or reclassification purposes.
