Job summary

TYLin in Ewing, New Jersey is seeking Transportation/Traffic Engineers who understand safety principles and infrastructure design to advance safety improvement programs for state, county, and municipal projects. Join a collaborative team applying engineering expertise to meaningful projects that improve mobility and equity.

You will work on crash analyses, design reviews, and data-driven safety recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; 3–5 years in transportation/traffic engineering design.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is required.
  • Preferred: PE, AICP, RSP.
  • Experience with NJDOT Roadway Design Guide, MUTCD, AASHTO Green Book.
  • Experience with NJDOT Complete Streets Policy, Vision Zero concepts, HSM, PROWAG/ADA, HSIP/SHSP publications, NACTO publications.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as in-house augment staff guiding State, county, and municipal projects.
  • Conduct crash analyses and develop data-driven safety recommendations.
  • Support and manage safety-focused programs and initiatives.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and coordination.
  • Develop safety targets, KPIs, and summary reports.
  • Contribute to SHSP activities and implementation.
  • Review HSIP assessments and performance plans.

  • Contribute to Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) activities and implementation.
  • Review Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) assessments and performance plans.
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. 3–5 years of transportation/traffic engineering design experience.
  • Required certifications: Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
  • Preferred certifications: PE (Professional Engineer), AICP (Certified Planner), RSP (Road Safety Professional).
  • Experience with NJDOT Roadway Design Guide, MUTCD, AASHTO Green Book.
  • Experience with the following is a plus:
    • NJDOT Complete Streets Policy
    • Safe System Approach/Vision Zero concepts
    • Highway Safety Manual (HSM)
    • PROWAG/ADA Standards
    • NJDOT HSIP and/or SHSP publications
    • NACTO publications
Additional Information

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $74,400 - $111,600 annually for this position and local market. We recognize that each candidate brings a unique set of skills, experience, education and competencies to the table that will be reflected in our offer.
