Summary

The Transportation Driver is responsible for safely transporting patients to and from hospitals, medical offices, dialysis centers, and private residences.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality customer service during transportation.
• Assist residents with boarding, seating, securing wheelchairs, and carrying packages.
• Ensure resident safety at all times and monitor safety on the vehicle and during boarding and exiting.
• Maintain and operate the vehicle responsibly, including fueling, performing preventive maintenance, and keeping the vehicle clean.
• Complete required paperwork, inspections, and logs accurately.
• Follow all safety and infection control procedures and report hazards or incidents immediately.
• Operate GPS, radios, and cell phones effectively for navigation and communication.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Indiana Driver’s License; class requirements depend on vehicle size.
• Must be between 21 and 74 years old, with a DOT physical.
• Experience as a bus or van driver preferred.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.

Physical Demands

• Ability to move intermittently, lift up to 40 lbs, and push/pull up to 275 lbs.
• Assist in emergency evacuations if needed.
• Work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
