Job summary

Meals on Wheels of Southwest OH & Northern KY in Cincinnati is seeking a Transportation Driver for a full-time, Monday–Friday daytime role. You will transport seniors across the Greater Cincinnati area and maintain clear daily logs.

Essential duties include safe vehicle operation, routine inspections, and strict confidentiality of client information, while complying with all funder requirements. Pre-employment physical and background checks apply.

Responsibilities

Meals on Wheels of Southwest OH & Northern KY (MOW) is a leading senior service provider in Greater Cincinnati. Our mission is to deliver essential services that promote the independence of seniors so they may remain in the comfort of their own homes. We are an official member of Meals on Wheels America, and our regional organization is one of the largest in the country. Every year, we reach nearly 10,000 seniors throughout 13 counties with our services.The Meals on Wheels Transportation Driver is a full-time, Monday - Friday days only position in which the Associate will transport Seniors to destinations in the Greater Cincinnati area.Medical, dental and vision benefits available day one. Ten paid holidays per year and paid time off accrual starts day one. $20 per hour to start.PRIMARY FUNCTION: Transport local Seniors to and from multiple destinations in the Greater Cincinnati area.TYPICAL WORK CONDITIONS: Work is performed via a shuttle bus and will require pick-ups and drop-offs of Seniors at the designated destination.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Establish supportive, caring relationships with each client served.Through the supportive relationship and careful observation, become aware of additional needs of clients and/or others clients and report the observations to management.Keep vehicle free from clutter and hazards.Maintain all regulatory requirements as specified by funders and contracts.Follow dispatched route and complete a daily log of activities.Perform daily inspection of agency vehicle and report vehicle safety concerns that need to be corrected immediately.Attend approved educational and training events, including facility in-service training.Provide services in a safe and compliant manner.Maintain the confidentiality of all client care information.Report any suspicion of elder abuse.Perform other duties assigned by management.QUALIFICATIONS:Possess a valid CDL with Passenger Endorsement. Must notify of any change in your driving record.Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.Ability to read and interpret maps and schedules, follow simple instructions and use mobile application (ServTracker) for tracking purposes.Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with clients, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.Ability to maintain composure and compassion when working with clients, family members and caregivers who may be under stress or upset.Must pass a pre-employment physical.Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, to include THC/marijuana, and background check.Physical and Sensory Requirements:Have the ability to judge distances, read signs from a distance and have the ability to work in dim or an unlit environment.Have the ability to be aware of surrounding environment.Have the ability to hear and follow instructions.Have the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.Must be in general good health and demonstrate emotional stability.Have the ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.Have the ability to lift in excess of fifty (50) pounds.Sit, stand, bend, lift, move intermittently and drive for extended periods of time during working hours.Ability to ascend and descend stairs.
