Job summary

Sevita, through its NeuroRestorative program, seeks a Disability Transportation Driver in New Jersey. This full-time role provides safe transport for clients and staff, supports participants with personal cares, and maintains vehicle upkeep.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid NJ driver’s license with insurance for at least one year. Prior driving experience in human services is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver’s License and car insurance for at least 1 year in New Jersey.
• Experience transporting people preferred.
• Experience in human services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe transportation of clients and agency personnel to programs or functions.
• Provide support to participants including personal cares and physical support.
• Assist disabled passengers into and out of vehicle and to appointments.
• Communicate with medical and/or therapy professionals as needed.
• Keep records of trips and/or behavior of passengers.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and upkeep, including refueling and basic maintenance.
• Maintain vehicle documentation (registration, inspection, insurance).
• Abide by agency policies and statutory requirements; perform other duties when not driving.

Job description

NeuroRestorative, a part of the Sevita family, provides rehabilitation services for people of all ages with brain, spinal cord and medically complex injuries, illnesses and other challenges. In a variety of locations and community-based settings, we offer a range of programs, including vocational and therapy programs, day treatments, and specialized services for infants, children, adolescents, Military Service Members and Veterans.

DISABILITY TRANSPORTATION DRIVER

• Full Time | M-F 8a-4p
• Starts at $16.25/hour, with opportunities for additional pay differentials based on education and experience
• Experience transporting people is preferred
• Experience in human services preferred

Summary

Provides safe transportation for clients and agency personnel as needed to any/all agency programs or functions and assists staff in supervising clients during said functions. Ensures cleanliness and upkeep of vehicle, and may perform additional custodial and building maintenance tasks when not driving.

Essential Job Functions

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below:

• Provides safe transportation of clients and agency personnel as needed to any/all agency programs or functions.

• Responsible for cleanliness and upkeep of vehicle including refueling, oil maintenance, and the like.
• Maintains proper vehicle documentation, e.g., registration, inspection sticker, insurance, etc.
• Maintains ethical and professional standards as outlined in agency policies and abides by all statutes in conducting agency business.
• May perform other duties when not driving, such as custodial and maintenance tasks.
