Job summary

ClearSky Health seeks a Transportation Driver to move patients and equipment between locations with a hospital-owned vehicle. You will ensure safety, cleanliness, and accurate communication with staff while maintaining PPE protocols.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS certification, and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record; prior van transport experience is preferred. Expect a commuter schedule and adherence to infection prevention standards.

The Transportation Driver is responsible for transporting patients and/or equipment to and from various outside appointments, clinics, nursing facilities, hospitals, or other ancillary locations via hospital-owned vehicle. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.

Essential Functions
  • Transports patients in a safe and professional manner
  • Assures vehicles are clean and in working order
  • Responsible for cleaning of inside of van utilizing appropriate chemicals between patients
  • Communicates with various hospital staff in order to receive relevant data and instructions
  • Inspects vehicle prior to daily vehicle usage for safe and comfortable patient transport
  • Reports vehicle concerns timely
  • Assists with transferring and balancing patients
  • Ensures patients' physical and overall comfort
  • Follows all patient safety and vehicle safety requirements
  • Responsible for knowing what PPE to apply to patient and driver prior to transport
  • Notifies proper staff regarding changes in condition or behavior of patient
  • May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies
  • Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff
  • Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions
  • Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards
  • Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization
Minimum Job Requirements

Minimum Education & Experience: High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Basic Life Support card required. Six months van transport experience preferred.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation

Must maintain acceptable driving record, current class specific driver's license, and insurability. Driving record must meet the standards of the Transportation Policy.

  • Demonstrates proficiency using the machines, tools, equipment and/or work aids appropriate for the position

  • Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, compassionate and understanding
Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift

Must be 21 years of age. A significant amount of sitting, driving, and reaching, often for prolonged periods of time. Both gross and precise motor functions. Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs. Possible exposure to bodily fluids. Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to hear overhead pages.
