Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Drainage Engineer-In-Training in Idaho to join the drainage team. You will perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, design drainage components for transportation projects, and prepare plans for bidding and construction with CADD.

Collaboration across disciplines ensures best value and adherence to standards. The role requires a civil engineering degree and FE exam, with 0–4 years of stormwater design experience; municipal/DOT exposure and OpenRoads Designer familiarity

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or graduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited program.
• FE exam must be passed.
• 0–4 years of experience in storm water design for transportation projects.
• Municipal or state DOT experience preferred.
• OpenRoads Designer experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work with varied staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design for transportation projects.
• Model drainage systems using modeling software and design components.
• Use CADD to prepare plans and digital files for bidding and construction.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to deliver value to clients.
• Execute design tasks, calculations, and plan development in compliance with standards.

As a Drainage Engineer-In-Training you will be responsible for a variety of projects, taking ownership from start to finish.

What are the core responsibilities for the role?

• Work as part of the drainage team under the direction of Senior Hydraulics Engineers to perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design for transportation projects.
• Use a variety of modeling software and tools to analyze and design drainage systems including storm drains, culverts, ditches, and water quality and stormwater management facilities.
• Use CADD to prepare plans and digital files for bidding and construction.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to provide the best value and service to our clients.
• Your work will include design, calculations, and plan development.
• Apply and adhere to industry and client standards.
• Take ownership of and complete assigned tasks.

Qualifications, Skills, And Competencies

• Undergraduate or graduate degree from accredited program in civil engineering.
• Passed FE exam.
• 0-4 years of experience in storm water design and plan preparation for transportation projects.
• Municipal and/or state DOT experience preferred.
• OpenRoads Designer experience preferred.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills.
• Desire to progress personally and professionally.
• Motivated to work hard to learn new skills.
