Job summary

As a Transportation Dispatcher, you will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating the transportation operations within our company. You will help manage daily transportation communications while ensuring that deliveries are made safely, on time, and without damage. This is a touch-freight role.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in leading the team of 20+ CDL and Non-CDL drivers
• Address any challenges that may arise during the shift
• Maintain constant communication with drivers to ensure smooth operations
• Track shipments in real time, and report any delays or emergencies promptly to the relevant parties
• Utilize tools such as Descartes, Geotab, and the Microsoft Suite of products
• Prepare and send daily end-of-shift reports with timeliness and accuracy
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and external customers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries, fleet performance goals are being met, and operations are maintaining efficiency
• Ensure strict adherence and compliance to company policies, safety regulations, and DOT and FMCSA rules and regulations
• Oversee the Hours of Service (HOS) and Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) programs
• Scan all incoming parts from Transfer routes
• Act as backup driver and run a route if needed
• Perform other duties as assigned as business needs change

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years’ experience in transportation
• Class B CDL license is required, Class A is strongly preferred
• Excellent verbal, written, and auditory communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to plan and organize workload; flexibility to handle pressure and work with interruptions and meet deadlines
• Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with others
• Ability to remain professional and courteous in challenging situations
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed
