Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead and shape transportation practice growth in the Mountain Pacific Region.
  • Act as the local face of WSP for Arizona and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Direct and oversee business development and client relations for the Arizona office (Tempe) and Tucson.
  • Coordinate with regional leaders to drive sales, KPI performance, and project delivery.

Transportation Director/Local Business Lead (LBL) for our Arizona office, based in Tempe. The candidate will play a key strategic leadership role in the Mountain Pacific Region as we continue to strengthen and expand our Transportation practice. WSP is playing a critical role in the growth and development throughout the burgeoning state of Arizona, specifically with key public agencies such as the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), Maricopa County, the City of Phoenix, and many others. The LBL role also directs and oversees business development and client relations for the WSP office in Tucson. In addition, the LBL role also is a leader in leveraging cross collaboration with other WSP business lines such as Property and Buildings (P&B), Energy, Water, Federal, Advisory Services, Program Management (PM), and Construction Management (CM) to bring value to our clients.

  • Manages local client coordination and cross-selling efforts in coordination with Region, District, National Business Lines, and Pursuit Management.

  • Resolves conflict and other internal/external issues that may arise in the office, amongst WSP’s client base, or on projects.
  • Collaborates with regional, district leaders and other area leaders to strategically drive the business, assess and suggest improvements for project performance, oversee overhead expenditures, and focus on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Sales, Funding, EBITDA, Staff Hiring and Retention, DSO, Utilization, Backlog, Inclusion & Diversity and Guiding Principles.
Expertise
  • Leverages our broad technical experience to enhance current and new service offerings.
  • Fosters the development of new and emerging innovations to remain the trusted thought leaders in our industry.
  • Advances the strategic direction of the district and region in the location of responsibility for sustained and continued growth consistent within the context of the strategic plan.
  • Encourages, supports and promotes the technical and professional development of local WSP staff.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience with a college degree or equivalent experience in the A/E/C industry with a strong focus in transportation.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Planning, Business, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience of leadership, personal accountability, persistence, and growth.
  • Ability to innovate and re-think the conventional approach to client and employee engagement.
  • Strong business acumen with an aptitude for improving processes.
  • Sound decision-making, strategic and visionary thinking, and creative business development capabilities across a multi-disciplined practice.
  • Strongly established relevant client relationships and industry contacts in the local area.
  • Commitment to internal and external client service.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
