Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transportation Designer/EIT to join our employee-owned team in Pittsburgh. You will contribute to urban and rural roadway projects, focusing on alignment, profiles, drainage, and construction estimates while collaborating with project engineers.

Preferred qualifications include a Civil Engineering bachelor's, an EIT certificate, and proficiency with MicroStation and AutoCAD; experience with Bentley and Autodesk tools is a plus. Local candidates preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
• Proficiency with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD; familiarity with Bentley/Autodesk road software.
• Candidates without EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator role and must obtain EIT for progression.
• Local candidates preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on detailed design of urban and rural roadway projects with project engineers.
• Take responsibility for alignment, profile, geometrics, drainage, and construction estimates.
• Assist with creation and submission of technical reports, specifications, and calculations.
• Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Transportation Designer/EIT, we'll count on you to:

• Work on a team with other project engineers on the detailed design of urban and rural roadway projects
• Take responsibility for alignment and profile, geometrics, drainage, development of plans and construction estimates
• Provide assistance with the creation and submission of technical reports, specifications and calculations
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
• Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, familiarity and demonstrated experience with Highways and Roads engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
• Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
• Local candidates preferred
