Job description

For over 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services to the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens. Currently, it offers 160+ programs and services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those struggling with mental illness.

Older Adult Centers promote an active life for seniors. The centers aim to assist them in preserving their independence and health by offering a wide range of activities and services, such as breakfast, lunch, health screenings, social services, educational workshops, classes, discussion groups, games, art classes, lectures, workshops, organized outings, and special events.

Statement of the Job

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for supervising drivers, ensuring transportation documentation complies with funding source requirements, completing transportation intakes, scheduling medical transportation, coordinating community excursions, and maintaining vehicles in a safe manner, including servicing, insurance, and maintenance.

  1. Maintain daily routes, records, and reports for taxi and/or van service according to DFTA requirements.
  2. Conduct client intakes.
  3. Collect and record contributions and deposit when assigned.
  4. Submit monthly statistical reports in a timely manner.
  5. Ensure drivers maintain vehicles according to funding source and agency requirements.
  6. Maintain daily contact with drivers regarding route changes, client cancellations, or additions.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license, proof of DMV driving history, with at least 3 years of current driving experience, and no more than one moving violation in the past 24 months. No DWI convictions required.
  • Knowledge of geographical areas served by the community.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
