Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a Transportation Construction Manager in Delaware to lead project delivery from budgeting to field execution. The role focuses on efficient resource use, cost control, and compliance with regulations while coordinating across teams.

The candidate will oversee inspection staff, manage plans and schedules, and pursue new work opportunities with clients, ensuring high-quality outcomes and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field; education may be substituted with experience.
• 6–7 years of related experience, with 1–2 years of supervisory/management experience.
• CCM certification by CCMA or licensure as Architect/Engineer preferred.
• Ability to read/building plans and specifications; understand contracts, bar charts, and schedules; strong communication.

• Plan for and manage budgets, allocate resources, and monitor costs.
• Identify opportunities for new work and expanded services for clients.
• Serve as the operational leader for field inspection staff and project execution.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations, client requirements, and company policies.
• Set project goals, milestones, and procedures; coordinate resources across the company; monitor progress.

Kleinfelder is currently seeking motivated candidates to fill our immediate full-timeTransportation Construction Managerrole. Work assignments are expected to be in Delaware.

Responsibilities:

• Plans for and uses resources efficiently, always looks for ways to reduce costs, creates accurate and realistic budgets, tracks and adjusts budgets, contributes to budget planning.
• Identifies and develops project opportunities for new work and/or expanded services for new and established clients.
• Serve as the operational leader for field inspection staff, overseeing resource allocation, staff development, performance management, and project execution to ensure high-quality, efficient, and compliant inspection services across assigned projects.
• Follows and adheres to all federal and state regulations, client requirements and contracts, and company policies and procedures.
• Establishes project goals, milestones, and procedures, defines roles and responsibilities, acquires project resources, coordinates projects throughout company, monitors project progress, manages multiple projects.
• Is attentive to detail and accuracy, is committed to excellence, looks for improvements continuously, monitors quality levels, finds root cause of quality problems, owns/acts on quality problems.

Qualifications:

• Education: B.S. degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field. Education requirement may be substituted with additional experience.
• Experience: 6 – 7 years of related experience, 3 – 4 years of designated professional experience and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations required. 1 – 2 years of supervisory/management experience required.
• Certification/Registration: CCM certification by the CCMA or licensing as an Architect or Engineer is preferred.
• Other Knowledge and Skills: Must be able to read and understand the requirements of building Plans & Specifications and have a strong knowledge of construction means, methods and procedures. Must understand general conditions of construction contracts; must be able to read and understand bar chart schedules; must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Must be proficient in DelDOT Standard Specifications and Standard Details
• Attendance, punctuality and reliability are essential requirements
• Familiarity with use of PC-based computer systems
• Salary will be commensurate with experience
