Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors from Trainees to Level IV to work with our Construction Engineering Inspection team on highway projects across North Carolina, including the Andrews area.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in inspecting various roadway and structure construction operations, performing calculations and computations under supervision.
  • Conduct materials sampling and testing.
  • Collect materials weigh tickets and perform roadway tests to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Monitor and perform inspections on highway projects.
  • Maintain daily records of project activities and prepare monthly estimates.
  • Take field measurements and calculate contract pay quantities.
  • Read plans and blueprints.
Skills and Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, with ability to apply formulas.
  • Proficiency in using iPad, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox, and OneDrive.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and make decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform testing and maintain detailed reports.
  • Effective communication with agency, contractor personnel, and the public.
  • Ability to read and interpret roadway, bridge, and structure plans and specifications.
  • Physical ability to walk over rough terrain, stand for long hours, bend, stoop, kneel, and work in confined spaces and heights.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license with a good record.
  • Experience requirements vary by level: Level II (4+ years), Level III (5+ years), Level IV (7+ years), with supervisory responsibilities at Level IV.
