Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) - District 12 (38708)

Join to apply for the Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) - District 12 (38708) role at Urban Engineers.

Urban Engineers is seeking qualified individuals in Pennsylvania to join the Construction Management Department as Transportation Construction Inspectors (TCI-1, TCI-2, TCI-3) for highway construction projects throughout the PennDOT District 12 region.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Inspecting highways and bridges to ensure construction conforms to plans and specifications.
  • Documenting daily field activities performed by contractors and acting as a client representative.
  • Facilitating communication between the inspection team, contractor, and client daily.
  • Additional tasks may include Project Site Activity reports, electronic documentation, processing payments, issuing work authorizations, and monitoring project schedules.
Job Requirements

Minimum qualifications for Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI):

  • Previous experience as a TA on PennDOT projects, or
  • Two years of transportation highway construction inspection experience, or
  • Four years of highway construction experience.

Additionally, candidates must have two of the following certifications: NICET (Highway Construction), NECEPT Asphalt, or NECEPT/PennDOT Concrete. A B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or similar can substitute for experience. A Professional Engineer (PE) license can also substitute for experience.

Additional Requirements
  • PennDOT ECMS v3 and PPCC experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills for using electronic tablets and computers for reviewing drawings and documentation.
  • Ability to navigate construction sites in various terrains and weather conditions.
  • Work hours may include day, night, and weekend shifts depending on operational needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must own a vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license; mileage reimbursement provided.
Compensation and Location

Pay Rate: $23.94 - $31.05/hour, depending on experience.

Locations: PennDOT District 12 (Fayette, Greene, Washington, Westmoreland counties).

This position is not remote.
