Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) (35764)

Join to apply for the Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) (35764) role at Urban Engineers.

Urban Engineers is seeking qualified individuals in Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Erie, Allentown, Scranton, Mechanicsburg, State College, and Williamsport, to join the Construction Management Department as Transportation Construction Inspectors (TCI-1, TCI-2, TCI-3) for highway construction projects.

This position will be responsible for:

  1. Inspecting highways and bridges, ensuring construction conforms to plans and specifications.
  2. Documenting field activities performed by contractors daily and representing the client.
  3. Facilitating communication between the inspection team, contractor, and client daily.
  4. Additional tasks may include: Project Site Activity (PSA) reports, electronic device usage, processing payments, issuing work authorizations, monitoring project schedules.
Job Requirements

Minimum requirements for Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI):

  • Previous experience as a TA on PennDOT projects, or
  • Two years of transportation highway construction inspection experience, or
  • Four years of highway construction experience.

Must have two of the following certifications: NICET (Highway Construction), NECEPT Asphalt, or NECEPT/PennDOT Concrete. A B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or similar can substitute for experience. A Professional Engineer's License (PE) can also substitute for experience.

Additional Requirements
  • PennDOT ECMS v3 and PPCC experience (preferred).
  • Basic computer skills for using electronic tablets and reviewing construction drawings/specifications.
  • Ability to navigate construction sites in various terrains and weather conditions.
  • Work hours may include day, night, and weekend shifts depending on operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must own a vehicle, possess a valid driver’s license, and will receive mileage reimbursement.
Pay Rate

$23.94 - $31.05/hour, depending on experience.

Incentive

$1,000 sign-on bonus, paid 50% in the first paycheck and 50% after 90 days of employment.

Locations

Warrendale, PA; Erie, PA; Pittsburgh, PA. This position requires onsite work; remote options are not available.
