Job Description

RIG Consulting Inc. is currently seeking qualified Transportation Construction Inspectors (TCI) in the District 5 area (Schuylkill, Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, and Northampton).

The base rate may range from $20.00 to $35.00 an hour, depending on qualifications, education, and certifications. RIG offers several additional benefits, such as a Night Safety Incentive and a Long Distance Drive Incentive that can add extra income to your paycheck!

Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing daily inspections to ensure proper materials and construction processes are used
  • Reviewing inspection drawings
  • Documenting daily activities
  • Maintaining project documents and files

Essential Functions:

  • Traveling across various terrains
  • Reading, writing, and speaking English clearly
  • Using electronic devices and software systems to input and retrieve information
  • Safely maneuvering around moving traffic and equipment
  • Reacting immediately to hazard warning devices such as signs, sirens, and alarms
  • Using required protective equipment responsibly for care, storage, and maintenance
  • Performing physical activities such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, crawling, twisting, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Enduring periods of heavy exertion
  • Traveling to inspection sites
  • Tolerating exposure to noise, outdoor elements, adverse weather, plants, insects, and chemicals within SDS limits
  • Working extended hours beyond eight hours per shift seasonally and being on call outside normal hours

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years of PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike, or related transportation construction experience
  • GED or high school diploma
  • Degree in Civil Engineering

Certifications:

  • NECEPT bituminous and concrete
  • ACI
  • NICET Level 2 or higher in Highway Construction
  • CDS NextGen
  • KAHUA
  • Resumes must include detailed work histories, certification numbers, and expiration dates

Workweek, Benefits, and Pay:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
