Job Description

Drive Engineering Corp. is currently seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors at the TA-1 and TA-2 levels. The Transportation Construction Inspector is responsible for inspecting projects to ensure compliance with contracts, standards, and specifications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  1. Inspect traffic-related items (OH Signs, Message Boards, Guiderail, etc.) for new installations and repairs.
  2. Inspect grading, surfacing, and drainage structures for quality and adherence to plans and specifications.
  3. Calculate quantities of materials used and work performed.
  4. Operate instruments, document project activities, and perform basic computations.
  5. Conduct basic tests on soils, asphalt, cements/concrete, aggregates, bituminous products, and/or industrial coatings.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic geometry and mathematical skills, ability to follow technical instructions, and excellent communication skills.

Education and Requirements

High School Graduate or equivalent. One (1) year of experience in general construction or ITS construction inspection. Experience with PennDOT or Pennsylvania Turnpike is preferred. Valid driver’s license. NICET (any level), NECEPT, or ACI Certification is preferred but not required.

Work Environment

In the field, on construction sites. Activities include driving, walking, bending, climbing, stooping, and kneeling. Exposure to bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

Salary Range
  • TA-1: $16.40--$21.22
  • TA-2: $21.22--$24.97
Job Type

Full-time (40 hours/week), Non-Exempt. Workdays are Monday through Friday, with possible night and weekend work.

Travel

Primarily local during the workday, with some projects requiring out-of-area and overnight travel.
