Position Type: Full Time
Salary Range: $31.05 - $35.50 Hourly
Transportation Construction Inspector (TCIS)

Urban Engineers is seeking qualified individuals in Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Erie, Allentown, Scranton, Mechanicsburg/Harrisburg, State College, Altoona, and Williamsport, to join the Construction Management Department as Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisors (TCIS-1 and TCIS-2) for highway construction projects. This position will be responsible for:

  1. Inspecting highways and bridges to ensure construction conforms with plans and specifications.
  2. Documenting field activities performed by contractors daily and representing the client.
  3. Facilitating daily communication between the inspection team, contractor, and client.
  4. Supervising the inspection staff team.
  5. Additional tasks may include preparing Project Site Activity (PSA) reports, using electronic tablets and computers, processing payments, issuing work authorizations and work orders, and monitoring project schedules.
Job Requirements:

Minimum qualifications for Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor (TCIS):

  • Previous experience as a TCI on PennDOT projects OR six (6) years of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection supervision/management experience OR five (5) years of transportation highway construction inspection experience.
  • Certifications required: NICET Level III (Highway Construction), NECEPT Asphalt, and NECEPT/PennDOT Concrete.

Education substitutions:

  • An AB.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or similar can substitute for four years of experience.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license can substitute for experience.
Additional requirements:
  • Experience with PennDOT ECMS v3 and PPCC is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills for reviewing construction drawings/specifications and completing documentation are required.
  • Ability to navigate construction sites in various terrains and weather conditions.
  • Work hours may include day, night, and weekend shifts depending on operational needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Candidates must have their own vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and will be reimbursed for mileage related to work duties.
Pay Rate:

$31.05 - $35.50 per hour, depending on experience level.
