Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor in the Philadelphia region to oversee highway, bridge and related infrastructure projects. The role focuses on field inspection, safety compliance, and adherence to plans and standards.

The candidate will supervise inspection staff, coordinate with clients and agencies, and ensure timely, accurate documentation and reporting for project success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience).
• 4+ years of Transportation, Highway or Bridge Construction Inspection Experience.
• Current valid driver's license and reliable motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.
• Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards.
• Oversee, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all project phases.
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.
• Make field notes and computations.
• Draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues.

Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor

JMT's Philadelphia Construction Management Team is seeking a qualified and experienced Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor for highway, bridge other infrastructure projects within the southeastern Pennsylvania region. The successful candidate will supervise standard inspection procedures of construction activities on behalf of our clients (primarily PennDOT, PA Turnpike and other local agencies) for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes. Sponsorship not available for this position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
• Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
• Oversee, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all project phases
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes
• Makes field notes and computations
• Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues
• Witness routine sampling and tests on concrete, soils and other materials
• Gathers and maintains project records (using PennDOT ECMS and other systems)
• Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries

Additional Functions and Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

• Ability to act in an Owner's Agent/Responsible in Charge Role
• Strong Computer proficiency
• Current Client Requested Certifications, including:
• NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation Highway Construction
• NECEPT- Bituminous Field Technician
• PennDOT Concrete Field Technician (ACI Concrete Field Technician is prerequisite)

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)
• 4+ years of Transportation, Highway or Bridge Construction Inspection Experience
• Current valid driver's license and reliable motor vehicle

Preferred Experience

• Associates or bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
• Supervisory experience in construction management or inspection projects
• CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5 certification or experience
