Transportation Construction Inspector (All levels - Lynchburg District)

Overview

ATCS's Construction Services group is expanding in Virginia! We seek individuals with VA construction management and inspection experience who can obtain necessary VDOT certifications. We welcome candidates with varying experience levels: Inspectors, Trainees, Senior Inspectors, in the Lynchburg, VA area.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections on Highway, Bridges, Environmental, Traffic, and Facilities projects
• Write daily progress reports
• Oversee contractor work to ensure compliance with contract documents and safety standards
• Conduct field tests on materials such as concrete, soil, and asphalt
• Document materials, labor compliance, safety, and work adjustments
• Report activities and progress to the Project Engineer, including calculations for pay quantities

Requirements

• Experience in roadway construction inspection, with VDOT knowledge preferred:
• 0-3 years for Inspection Trainee
• 3-6 years for Inspector
• 6+ years for Senior Inspector
• Knowledge of VDOT standards and OSHA safety requirements
• Mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
• Proficiency with field testing equipment and inspection methods
• Ability to obtain certifications within 12 months (e.g., Work Zone Traffic Control, Asphalt, ACI Concrete, Soils, Nuclear Safety, Storm Water, DEQ, OSHA, Flagging)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Proficiency in MS Office, SiteManager, PlanGrid, and other project management tools

Compensation and Benefits

Salary ranges from $17.00 to $41.97 per hour, based on experience. The role offers overtime, an annual bonus (~2%), and comprehensive benefits including PTO, holidays, medical, dental, vision, 401K matching, parental leave, STD/LTD, tuition reimbursement, and more.
