Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking a dedicated individual for a civil inspection role in Virginia. This position entails monitoring construction progress, conducting inspections, and coordinating material sampling and testing. Job description

Responsibilities

• Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, transit, rail and environmental projects.
• Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects.
• Coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in-place soil compaction testing.
• Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical school, associate or bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management.
• Some demonstrated experience in construction inspection.
• Relevant client requested Certifications.
• Ability to interpret construction schedules.
• Local candidates preferred.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Successful completion of drug‑screening procedures prior to being hired; thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing.

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location: Maryland: $49,319 – $70,455, Washington DC: $56,364 – $80,520.
