Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work.
  • Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics.
  • One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration).
  • Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration).
  • One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology;
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Description of Work

This role focuses on inspecting materials at asphalt, concrete, and aggregate plants to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards. You will help maintain consistent testing and documentation practices that support transportation projects across the district. As a Transportation Construction Inspector, you will perform the following duties:

  • Material Inspection: Check materials at production plants to verify compliance with specifications and quality control requirements
  • Test Accuracy: Review testing procedures to make sure methods align with regulatory organizations' standards
  • Quality Observation: Observe material shipments and confirm that weigh slips and delivered materials are correct

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • You will work closely with vendors, and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Uniontown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

Qualifications:
