Job Description
CDR Maguire Inc., a multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking experienced Transportation Construction Inspectors for projects in PennDOT District 6, Montgomery County, for the upcoming 2025 construction season in Pennsylvania. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure compliance with the contract documents by the contractor.
- Consult with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others regarding plans, specifications, materials, equipment, methods, practices, and safety precautions involved in construction and installation of the work.
- Prepare daily progress reports and maintain progress schedules.
- Check shop drawings and contractors' quotations for variations.
- Maintain records of quantities and costs of materials used.
- Prepare contractors' periodic progress payment claims and recommend payments.
OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Travel as required related to the above duties or as directed by supervisor.
- Maintain a positive attitude to establish competence and pride in the company.
- Perform other duties as required and appropriate for the position.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required. Construction Management or Civil Engineering degree is a plus.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, and perform basic math computations related to length, area, and volume.
- Minimum of one (1) year PennDOT experience or higher, or a minimum of two (2) years of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience.
- Four (4) years of highway or bridge construction, non-highway or bridge inspection, or highway or bridge design experience. Non-inspection personnel must successfully complete the twelve (12) web-based TCI training modules to substitute for other required experience.
- Civil Engineering or Construction degree can substitute for required experience.
- Bachelor's of Science degree in a non-Civil Engineering field with the successful completion of the twelve (12) web-based TCI training modules can substitute for experience.
Certifications:
- NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
- NECEPT Bituminous Field Certification
- ACI/PennDOT Concrete Field Technician Certification
- PennDOT/PTC CDS Certification
- ECMS experience
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification
