Job summary

LJA is seeking a Construction Engineer II in our Transportation department to support oversight of roadway, bridge, and transportation construction projects, inspecting contractor work and maintaining project documentation.

Role includes a 75/25 office-to-field balance, collaborating with engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure compliance with plans, specifications and contract requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Minimum 1 year of construction inspection experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Construction Engineers and inspection staff on transportation construction projects.
• Perform field inspections under supervision for bridge, roadway and related works.
• Coordinate material testing and sampling to ensure compliance with specs.
• Maintain project documentation including RFIs, submittals, correspondence and NCRs.
• Review contract plans and identify constructability and deficiencies.
• Attend meetings with contractors and clients as needed.
• Balance office and field work (approximately 75/25).
