Job summary

LJA, a civil engineering firm, is seeking a Construction Engineer II in its Transportation department in Houston to support oversight of roadway, bridge and transportation construction projects. You will inspect contractor work, document progress, coordinate material testing and ensure compliance with plans, specs and contract requirements.

The role collaborates with engineers, contractors and clients to identify deficiencies, maintain project documentation, monitor safety and quality, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required.
• Engineer-in-Training or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Minimum 1 year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support inspection staff on transportation construction projects.
• Perform field inspection tasks under supervision of Engineers and Lead Inspectors.
• Document and address deficiencies in Contractor work.
• Manage project documentation (RFIs, Submittals, NCRs, Change Orders).
• Maintain project drawings and daily reports with various software.
• Ensure conformance with contract requirements and technical provisions.
• Coordinate material testing and sampling per schedule.
• Complete training on Environmental Compliance (SWPPP) and MOT.
• Compile data to develop monthly client reports.
• Communicate project status with oversight team.
