Job summary

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Community Relations Coordinator 2 for District 8-0 to shape how communities stay informed about transportation projects and safety efforts. You will lead information flow, engage media partners and civic leaders, and highlight program accomplishments.

As District 8-0 Press Officer, you will supervise a community relations team, coordinate with police and schools, and develop materials for outreach across multiple platforms

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a Transportation Community Relations Coordinator 1 or four years in public relations / related fields.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Media coordination as District 8-0 Press Officer and liaison with outlets and public officials.
• Develop and support citizen involvement activities and public communications.
• Prepare website updates, social media posts, and Letters to the Editor.
• Coordinate safety messaging with police, schools, and community groups.
• Explain project impacts to communities and present key information clearly.
• Supervise a community relations team responsible for outreach and media coordination.
