Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Transportation seeks a Civil Engineer - Transportation to support environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and technical guidance for District 8-0. You will review drawings, lead permit reviews, and provide environmental training to ensure safe, compliant operations.

Telework may be available after a probationary period; typical schedule is 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with potential for telework and a Pennsylvania-based work location.

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Civil Engineer Trainee or five years civil engineering experience with EIT certificate; four years with B.S. in civil engineering and an EIT; one year with B.S. and relevant degree.

Responsibilities

• Permit Review Lead: evaluate maintenance permits for environmental compliance.
• Technical Analysis: review drawings, calculations, and reports for permit applications.
• Environmental Compliance Support: guidance on hazardous materials and regulatory obligations.
• Coordination Activities: work with staff, consultants, and agencies on procedures.
• Stormwater Oversight: assist with MS4 and stormwater control measures via inspections and training.
• Training and Guidance: support district personnel with environmental procedures.
