Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Full Time Civil-Roadway Engineering Intern to join our North Carolina Transportation Team in Charlotte, NC. This temporary role targets students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Civil Engineering program, providing hands-on exposure to real projects and mentorship from senior staff.

The internship is part of the 12-week Summer Internship Program, starting May 17, 2027, with a flexible start date.

Qualifications

Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering undergraduate or graduate program with anticipated graduation Dec 2027 or later.
Must be 18 or older.
Demonstrated interest in Transportation Design or related field.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
Able to take direction from mentors and managers to execute projects.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and general software/tools.
Authorized to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
Learn basic principles of Civil Engineering.
Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analyses.
Support preparation of final design plans, provisions, and cost estimates.
Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies.
