Novolex is seeking a Transportation Carrier/Procurement Manager to lead carrier relationships across the network. You will provide data-driven insights, manage KPIs, and drive higher capacity and service levels from the carrier base.

The role requires a self-starter in a fast-paced environment, strong numerical skills, and a proactive approach to working with carriers and internal teams. 5+ years in logistics and 3+ years in carrier development are preferred.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in logistics or related field; 5+ years in supply chain or transportation.
• 3+ years experience in carrier development; strong communication and organization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Carrier management and procurement across Truckload, Intermodal, LTL, and parcel.
• Build strategic partnerships with key carriers across multiple levels.
• Research and qualify new carriers based on asset size, modes and regions.
• Drive down cost and/or improve service through strategies.
• Negotiate carrier pricing and terms.
• Assist in development and execution of RFPs and carrier bids.
• Manage carrier capacity and drop pools.
• Create routing guides for transportation planners to execute against.
• Ensure accurate pricing and capacities in the TMS rate system.
• Collaborate with business teams and carriers to meet service goals.
• Provide guidance to traffic and warehouse management.
• Create and monitor service KPIs and scorecards for carrier review.
• Analyze data from TMS, TDW, Tableau, SAP to drive improvements.
• Assist in policy and procedure development for cost control.

Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Transportation Carrier/Procurement Manager will provide transportation leadership in the development and management of carrier relationships across the Novolex network. In addition, the Carrier Manager will provide data driven insights, fiscal responsibility, maintain carrier KPIs/score carding and be responsible for driving increased capacity and high service levels from our carrier base. This will require an individual who is a self-starter, thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves numbers, and has a “Can Do” mentality when working with carriers and the Novolex team.

Job Description:

• Responsible for carrier management and procurement across multiple modes (Truckload, Intermodal, LTL, and parcel)
• Build strategic partnerships with key carriers, with contacts across multiple levels in their organization.
• Research and qualify new carriers based on asset size, modes and regions covered.
• Facilitate strategies to drive down cost and/or improve service.
• Negotiate carrier pricing.
• Help in the development and execution of RFPs and carrier bid events.
• Manage carrier capacity and drop pools.
• Create and monitor routing guides for transportation planners to execute against.
• Ensure accurate pricing and capacities are uploaded into the TMS rate system.
• Working with business teams and carriers to improve service to meet expected goals.
• Provide guidance and supervision to traffic and warehouse management.
• Create and maintain daily/weekly/monthly service KPIs and scorecards for carrier review,
• Collect, analyze, and manage quantitative data from various sources (TMS, TDW, Tableau, SAP) and create performance metrics and ad hoc reporting that will lead to service improvements.
• Assist in the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure quality and cost control.

Requirements

• BA/BS in logistics or related field with 5+ years previous business experience, preferably in supply chain, transportation, procurement, or warehousing with 3+ years demonstrated experience in carrier development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational skills; strict attention to detail; ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Previous experience with Blue Yonder–TMS and Freight Procurement software preferred.
• High analytical ability desired

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $105,000-$115,000 + bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
