Job summary

City and County of San Francisco, through the Office of the City Attorney, seeks a Deputy City Attorney for the Transportation Team to advise on procurement, contracting, grants, and regulatory matters for the SFMTA.

The role involves drafting legislation, negotiating intergovernmental agreements, and supporting transit vehicle procurement, technology system contracts, and compliance with federal and state requirements.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in California.
• Five or more years of legal experience in government procurement, transportation, municipal or other government law, grants law, public works, and technology/systems procurement.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently, with strong time management and multitasking skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication and advocacy abilities.
• Commitment to diversity and contributing to an inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Advise on transactional matters including procurement, grants, and contracting.
• Draft and analyze local, state, and federal legislation relating to transportation and procurement.
• Draft and review intergovernmental agreements and regulatory compliance matters.
• Provide risk analyses and legal options to City clients to achieve program goals.
