Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking Transportation Associates to support its transportation network by performing trailer yard moves, coordinating yard activities, and conducting yard audits. You will operate multiple vehicle types, follow DOT regulations, and complete driver training programs.

The role offers outdoor work and exposure to diverse site types. Starting pay is $25.00 per hour plus shift differentials, with overtime and performance bonuses.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain CDL and DQF if required.
  • English proficiency for over-the-road driving.
  • Able to lift up to 49 pounds and stand/walk up to 12 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Make safety a priority and enforce safety policies.
  • Coordinate yard operations to ensure on-time trailer movements.
  • Operate CMVs on non-public roads.
  • Learn and comply with DOT regulations.
  • Complete vehicle inspections and report issues.
  • Follow schedules and track hours per policy.

  • Drive and load/unload trailers using approved equipment.

Are you ready to help Amazon deliver world class service in its transportation operations? Transportation Associates will perform trailer moves in the trailer yard, coordinate yard activities (such as checking in trailers, traffic flow, internal communications with operations, etc.), conduct yard audits, complete applicable driver training programs (Hostler, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) School, etc.), and operate multiple vehicle types based on business need (including but not limited to hostlers and day cabs) to support Amazon’s transportation network. Responsibilities
  • Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and regulations and enforce safety measures and policies to all who operate vehicles on behalf of Amazon and those who enter the yard, including vendors and senior team members.
  • Perform various functions within the yard, support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers, to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and to maintain workflow for buildings.
  • Be professionally trained to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations.
  • Learn Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and comply with company policies, procedures of those DOT regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting requirements, break periods, etc.).
  • Complete driver vehicle inspection reports on equipment and notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
  • Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks at appropriate times in compliance with Amazon policy and federal and state regulations, adhere to yard safety policies, obey all applicable traffic laws, and drive in accordance with weather/road conditions.
  • Support the business on an as needed basis by serving as a peer trainer and/or working at nearby site locations within the area.
  • Drive, maneuver, and load/unload a truck using approved equipment (pallet jack, etc.).

Required Qualifications
  • Hold a valid and active driver’s license.
  • High School or equivalent diploma.
  • Candidate must be 21 years or older.
  • Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, reach and ascend/descend stairs.
  • Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required.
  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to all job requirement and safety guidelines in English.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Driver Qualification File (DQF) if required; must hold valid driver’s license for the state in which they reside and be eligible to drive in accordance with DOT requirements.
  • English proficiency if role requires over-the-road driving.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with diverse audiences.
  • Experience building strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and outside vendors.
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Completion of Career Choice Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) course.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.

The starting pay for this position is $25.00 per hour, including the base pay rate plus the highest available shift differential which applies depending on the shift you select. As a total compensation company, you are eligible for additional earnings including overtime pay and performance bonuses. Final pay will be based on factors including shift selection and location.
