Job summary

Amazon is hiring Transportation Associates in Bristol, Indiana to perform yard moves, coordinate yard activities, inspect trailers, and support site operations with a focus on safety and efficiency.

The role requires a valid driver's license, ability to lift 49 pounds, and willingness to work 40 hours per week with flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays; CDL training may be provided and is regulated by DOT if needed; base pay is $24 per hour plus applicable shift differential.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid and active driver’s license.
• High school or equivalent diploma.
• Be 21 years of age or older and able to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines in English.
• Be able to lift up to 49 pounds, stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, reach and ascend/descend stairs.
• Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required.
• Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and regulations. Follow and enforce safety measures and policies to all who operate vehicles on behalf of Amazon and those who enter the yard, including vendors and senior team members.
• Perform various functions within the yard, support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers, as needed, to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and to maintain workflow for buildings.
• Be professionally trained to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations.
• Learn Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and comply with company policies, procedures of those DOT regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting requirements, break periods, etc.).
• Complete driver vehicle inspection reports on equipment and notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
• Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks at appropriate times in compliance with Amazon policy and federal and state regulations, adhere to yard safety policies, obey all applicable traffic laws, and drive in accordance with weather/road conditions.
• Support the business on an as‑needed basis by serving as a peer trainer and/or working at nearby site locations within the area.
• Drive, maneuver, and load/unload a truck using approved equipment (pallet jack, etc.).

If requested due to business need, Transportation Associates must obtain their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Driver Qualification File (DQF) and utilize it as a condition of the role, paid for by Amazon. If Associate is requested to become CDL and DQF certified to drive Over-the‑Road for Amazon, this position becomes regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and follows regulations issued by the DOT’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). The timing of this requirement is dependent on business need. Continuing in the position with CDL and DQF certification is contingent upon the successful completion of a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening, a DOT physical and Amazon’s pre‑employment drug test.

The starting pay for this position is listed below including the base pay rate plus the highest available shift differential which applies depending on the shift you select. As a total compensation company, you are eligible for additional earnings including overtime pay and performance bonuses. Final pay will be based on factors including shift selection and location.
